Hana Karim

Handmade Ceramics from Ljubljana

Hana Karim - handmade artisanal stoneware plates - nave shop - online concept store

Hana Karim grew up between painting studios and pottery wheels in Slovenia, where her parents encouraged her to see that ceramics could be a business, a passion and a form of artistic expression. Today, Karim is working to shift the perception of ceramic-making, by coaxing the resurgence of pottery as a medium for creative expression. Finding inspiration in the words and creativity of her mother, Karim first spent ten years crafting ceramic jewellery before moving onto homeware.

This sense of progression felt natural, as Karim uses jewellery-making techniques as a way of giving definition to the bowls, cups and plates of her homeware line. It is these details, and her unparalleled manipulation of clay stone that makes her work immediately recognizable. Tones of turquoise seep through, a palette that is influenced by Karim’s father and his Iraqi Kurdistan heritage. The artist, describes the calming effect of the ocean-like tincture, as it mystically oscillates between green and blue hues, quietly harboring a sense of nostalgia for her childhood. With one look, it becomes clear that Karim’s work and creative process finds conception in the relationship she has with her parents.

“Sometimes misshapen plates speak more to me,” Karim explains, and she goes on to attribute her stylistic fluidity to a strong emotional connection with her surroundings, “even the recent change in seasons inspired me to create a collection of bowls in all shades of grey.”

Merme

One Ingredient Skincare: The Power of Purity

Merme Founder - NAVE Shop - online concept store

Each of MERME's ingredients are chosen for their quality with the focus only on the raw pureness of plants. This 1-Ingredient philosophy means products are stripped down to their 100% potency with no hidden fillers.
Because most Daily skin and hair products can include up to 200 chemicals that are harmful to our bodies. These products are usually made by an assortment of natural and unnatural ingredients, however when mixed together the key natural ingredients become diluted and essentially so are their nutrients.

Originally from Australia, Claire has called Berlin her home since 2014. Here the attitude towards the importance of quality, practicality and simplicity really confirmed her thoughts.

„This German mindset has taught me it‘s better to only have one really high-quality product rather than five with less quality. The ideology behind MERME products containing only one, highest quality ingredient was definitely inspired by this amazing culture. Not to mention, having such sensitive skin I‘ve learned it‘s best to incorporate only one ingredient at a time to really pinpoint what works best for you.“

Moodlight Studio

exploring and discovering new materials for a new aesthetic

Moodlight Studio, lighting Design, using material waste and recycling, nave shop

Moodlight studio is led by material exploration. Continuously searching for new ways to recycle materials with a strong aesthetic. And seeing recycling as a challenging game, to design products made of waste materials, thereby saving ressources. These recycled materials are added to a mineral solvent and COV free resin. Thereby creating their own individual material products - such as Carbonite, an ultra lightweight yet very strong material made of crushed charcoal, or a heavy marble dust composite that naturally glitters. Most of the materials discovered become or will become products, or different finishes for a lamp.

Each piece is made in the Moodlight Studio based in Besançon, France. The studio is defined by its low-tech work ethic, working with casting and molding techniques and mostly by hand.
